Conviene davvero ELETTRICA? Ecco i COSTI REALI e VANTAGGI NASCOSTI

A "real" comparison between two city cars under 4 meters: gasoline vs. electric, without eco-bonuses, scrappages, or "creative" formulas. In this video, we put the Hyundai i10 (3.67 m) and the new Hyundai Inster (approximately 3.80 m) side by side to understand the real differences in the daily use of a small car: space, trunk, comfort, technology, and above all, real costs over 10,000 km per year. ARTICLE ON TECHDRIVE.IT https://www.techdrive.it/prova-auto/c... Let's start with what you're most looking for: size and practicality. The i10 is a classic A-segment gasoline model: 5 doors, a simple and practical layout, a 252-liter trunk, ISOFIX, and rear seats that can be used for children or small family needs. The Inster, while still compact, plays a different game: an electric "skateboard" platform, flat floor, and sliding/folding seats that multiply its versatility. The trunk has a base capacity of 280 liters, expanding to about 350 liters by moving the seats. By folding everything down, you can create a nearly flat surface and use the car as a small "Swiss Army Knife" for cargo and everyday use. On the road, the differences are even more noticeable. The i10 requires gears, has more noise and vibrations (it's a 1.0-liter naturally aspirated engine), and the acoustic comfort is typical of small combustion engines. The Inster, on the other hand, is quieter, quicker to pick up speed, and more relaxing in the city (even with one-pedal driving), with smart features and functions like remote pre-climate control. On potholes, however, physics also plays a role: the EV weighs more (about 1,400 kg) and the chassis must manage its mass and batteries, while a gasoline-powered city car remains lighter and more "direct" in its responses. The key point: "How much does it really cost?" We simulated 10,000 km/year with concrete numbers (credible consumption, not brochure figures). i10: approximate consumption 6.5 l/100 km and gasoline at €1.75/l → approximately €1,100–1,200 per year of fuel. Inster: approximate consumption 12 kWh/100 km and home charging €0.20–0.25/kWh → approximately €250–375 per year. If you charge frequently at fast charging stations, the advantage diminishes; if you charge at home/garage (even with a simple plug, with low mileage), it becomes enormous. Then we add the items that often disappear when comparing "electric car vs. gasoline": road tax, maintenance, and parking. In our calculation: EV road tax = 0, i10 road tax ≈ €120/year; Regular maintenance (Hyundai data over 5 years) i10 ≈ €1,220 vs. Inster ≈ €789; and a hypothesis of paid parking for the combustion engine (20 hours/month at €2/h) versus the discounts often available for electric vehicles in many cities. Result: approximately €407/year for the Inster versus approximately €1,504/year for the i10, i.e., an annual saving of approximately €1,100 in favor of the electric model. And the purchase price? Raw list prices: i10 from approximately €18,250, base Inster from approximately €24,000 (small battery). The difference is approximately €6,400 and, with the annual savings, it will be recovered in approximately 5.8 years (rounded to 6). We also simulated financing, because it's often purchased in installments: same down payment (€4,500) and same APR → i10 about €130–140/month, Inster about €270–280/month. But including energy/fuel, road tax, maintenance, and parking spread out over the months, the total cost comes out to practically the same: about €310/month for both. In the video, we also discuss technology and safety, other typical concerns for those looking at city cars: Inster brings a very comprehensive ADAS package to this size (automatic braking, lane keeping/centering, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition), as well as a modern infotainment system and instrument panel. And for those concerned about range and charging times: in DC fast, you can reach 10–80% in about 30 minutes, so it's not just for the city, although on long trips, a small petrol tank is more immediate (fill up and go). The conclusion is almost simple: electric isn't for everyone. If you don't have convenient charging and it becomes a hassle, a gasoline city car remains the easiest choice. But if you spend a lot of time in the city and can charge at home/garage, an electric city car today can be cheaper, more comfortable, and more "modern" to live with. #citycar #electriccar #Hyundai
