COPE has added '10 Minutes with Jesus' to its podcast offerings, a daily meditation in podcast format centered on the Gospel, offering reflections and glimpses into the life of Jesus Christ. The '10 Minutes with Jesus' initiative began in June 2018 by a group of priests and laypeople who saw the internet age as an opportunity to share the life of Jesus. The idea originated with María Feria, a teacher from Galicia, who wanted to keep her teenage children connected to their spiritual lives during the summer holidays. To this end, she asked Father José María García de Castro to record a short meditation for them each day. These podcasts, roughly 10 minutes long, quickly gained popularity until, with the help of other priests, they began to develop into what has become one of the most popular online initiatives for prayer. On August 22, 2018, the first WhatsApp group was created, and people from all over the world began joining as listeners of this initiative. By the end of summer, thousands of people were receiving these audio messages daily, so the priests decided to continue recording the 10-minute messages to this day. Months later, a group of lay people and priests from England and Ireland learned of the project's success and decided to join it. Currently, the '10 Minutes with Jesus' team is spread across the globe, united by their love for Jesus Christ through the internet. With the addition of '10 minutes with Jesus', COPE continues to enrich its podcast catalog and reinforces its commitment to socio-religious content after such successful productions as 'Benedict XVI, the Pope of the storm' or Holy Week podcasts such as 'Via Crucis, meditations on the stations of the cross' and the renewed proclamation that Carlos Herrera made in Seville in 2001.
