The Miracle The version of "The Miracle" that appeared on the 1989 album is polished, grand, and slightly guarded — the way a song sometimes gets when it's been worked on for too long. The version that existed before that, buried in the session tapes and finally surfaced on the 2022 Collector's Edition as Original Take With John's Ending, is something rawer. More direct. Freddie sings a handful of lines with different words — not better or worse, just less filtered, closer to whatever he was actually thinking when the song was still becoming itself. And at the end, instead of the familiar resolution, there's a different ending — John Deacon's ending, the one that was set aside when the final version was assembled. This version takes three or four of those session lines and puts them back where they were. Then it lets the song close the way John intended. No added instruments. No reconstruction. Just a different edit of things that already existed — a version of "The Miracle" that almost was.
