I was ready to record, but then I listened to his track again and couldn't help but think "whatever I do, it's not going to sound anything like his incredible track". Now, I'm pretty sure that Rex used an 8-string bass for This Love. I saw some online claims about how he recorded all the softer parts twice. I'm not so sure about that because the tone is very similar to the isolated bass track from Jeremy by Pearl Jam which is on a 12-string bass. I might be wrong though and maybe he really just did it twice, but the real problem is that you can't even hear this when you listen to the song. That's why I felt like using his track, to show everyone that this bass track is one of his absolute best tracks out there. Nobody in the world owns an 8-string so it's totally fine if you can't play that higher octave. However, you do need to be good at switching from picking to slapping within a second (4:11).
