Russian aviation manufacturing facilities are advancing final assembly operations for multi-role aircraft, targeting the completion of four aircraft by the end of the year and delivering the first eight aircraft under initial contracts by 2027. Production plans involve six airframes in airframe assembly and systems installation, six airframes in fuselage section assembly and mating, and two airframes in unit assembly. Maintaining continuous assembly line operations requires 200 million in investments for interest rate subsidies and cost support, which will secure a subsequent batch of 18 aircraft and provide full workload distribution across the Ulyanovsk plant and approximately 50 Russian suppliers. Discussions during the facility tour highlighted the development of a shortened passenger aircraft variant designed with a flight range exceeding 5,000 kilometres and a passenger capacity of around 140 seats, positioning it between the Superjet and the MC-21 to fill market niches. Concurrently, test pilots detailed the modernisation program for the Su-130 aircraft, which expands its combat capabilities based on foreign partner requirements. Upgrades include a nose-mounted radar station, an optical-laser-thermal imaging system, a wingtip airborne defense complex, and an upgraded radio communication system for real-time tactical data exchange with ground control and paired aircraft.
