A Quick Dorian Workout for Accordion

If you're learning jazz accordion, one of the best things you can do is stop practicing a scale in just one key. In this quick accordion workout, we'll take the Dorian mode through two keys (D minor and Eb minor), starting with the scale, adding a simple groove inspired by "So What", exploring a few rhythmic ideas, and finally using it all for improvisation. The exercise works on both free bass accordion and standard bass accordion. 📄 Join my growing library → https://accordionstudiopdfs.subscribe... 📖 Jazz Accordion Workbook Vol.1 (Coming October 2026) → https://accordioncourse.com/ Chapters 00:00 Intro 00:26 PLAY D Dorian + Eb Dorian 00:54 PLAY GROOVE 01:40 RHYTHM VARIATIONS - quarter notes 03:05 RHYTHM VARIATIONS - one quarter note followed by two eighth notes 04:33 RHYTHM VARIATIONS - two eighth notes followed by one quarter note 06:02 RHYTHM VARIATIONS - eighth notes 07:11 - IMPROVISATION 08:13 - Outro If you try this exercise, let me know how it goes in the comments. 🔔 Subscribe for more jazz accordion lessons, practice ideas, and improvisation exercises.
