Heavy rainfall battered the Mumbai-Pune ghat section on Monday, triggering landslides that disrupted both road and rail connectivity between the two cities. Dramatic videos from the newly opened Missing Link section of the Mumbai-Pune Expressway showed rainwater heavily pouring down and silt and mud covering a part of the stretch. The visuals which went viral also showed bulldozers deployed on site, trying to clean the mud off the stretch. While traffic on the Mumbai to Pune carriageway of the Missing Link section of the Mumbai–Pune Expressway has now been restored, but the corridor remains closed, with vehicles being diverted via the old Mumbai–Pune Highway since 4 am on Monday.
