STREAMING: Officials give update on Iron Fire near Eureka; mapped at more than 37K acres
The Iron Fire burning near Eurkea grew to 37,172 acres after making a run east through the Pinyon Canyon area, Utah fire officials said Wednesday morning. Utah Fire Info said in a media release that the firefighter successfully stopped the fire run and is continuing extinguishment throughout the area with an emphasis on the fire's eastern flank. Firefighters have also improved their work to better protect structures in and around Eureka and reached 17% containment of the fire. However, fire officials said crews are preparing for severe weather, including dry lightning and a windstorm that can increase fire activity.
