Well, it was included on many, many various artists compilation albums of the 80s... but from 1979, and with Tubeway Army's 'Are Friends Electric?' it became his 2nd No.1 in a row. Gary said... 'the song took just minutes to write', and after 46yrs, still loved by millions. I should have included a photo in the slideshow with John Webb (Gary's Brother) who sadly passed away late last week... May he Rest In Peace. The album this is from was the first No.1 UK albums to have NO guitar in... except for bass, an album that helped shape pop music for decades. And one of 3 No.1 albums, when Gary Numan ruled! ...Mind you, jump forward 4 decades... and he was No,2! For a 2nd time in a row! And playing to HUGE audiences again... Including Wembley! 41yrs after he had last... and fulfilling a dream, to be back on top! This mix has taken a long time!! With working on a few others during the time, Inc the previous upload by Soft Cell. But a Pupmix tries to stretch things beyond normal boundaries, yet make it as varied as possible, while actually keeping the song there! Don't forget! Pupmixes are just amateur! Done on a cheap laptop, using the free prog Audacity, and a few online isolators... as Audacity is just beyond awful at that! lol Cars became a hit several times over, including The E Reg in 1987 No.16, and The Premier Mix when used for a CARling drinks advert in 1996 No.17.
