Comerciante denuncia agressão policial após festa junina em SP

A shopkeeper in the Itaim Paulista neighborhood, in the eastern part of São Paulo, reported an aggressive approach by the Military Police after a June festival. The incident occurred when Paulo Sérgio Matheus was closing his bar and was surprised by the arrival of the police officers. He alleges that he was intimidated and physically assaulted by the officers. Paulo reported that the police arrived at the scene already using physical force even before requesting the closure of the establishment. He said he was pushed and hit in the eyes with pepper spray. Paulo's wife and daughter were also present during the incident and tried to intervene to calm the situation. The region is known for its traditional annual June festivals, where police presence is frequently needed to disperse crowds at the end of the festivities. However, according to the shopkeeper, who has worked in the area for over 20 years without similar incidents before, this specific approach was considered excessively heavy-handed. The Public Security Secretariat reported that it is analyzing the images captured during the event to investigate the actions of the police officers involved.
