Time isn’t going anywhere | Emily Adlam | TEDxRoma
We commonly talk about time as something that moves or flows, but what if that is just an illusion? In this talk, Emily Adlam explains why quantum mechanics and relativity suggest that we should reject the time evolution picture. Modern physics suggests that time isn't a journey, rather it's something like a perspective. This new understanding of time could have significant consequences for how we think about our lives and our place in the universe. Emily Adlam is a philosopher of physics working on the foundations of quantum mechanics and the philosophy of time. She did a PhD in theoretical physics at the University of Cambridge and was a postdoctoral associate at the University of Western Ontario before moving to Chapman University. She is the author of the textbook Foundations of Quantum Mechanics and winner of the Blaumann’s prize 2023. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
