High on a jungle ridge, I raised this mountain stone survival hut from raw fieldstone — then mist rolled in and swallowed the valley below. The build site clings to an exposed mountain ridge above a vast sea of jungle-covered hills, open to the wind with nothing between the walls and the cloud layer filling the valley. Every stone was dry-stacked by hand — no mortar, no power tools — using flat fieldstone gathered straight from the slope below the ridgeline. The build runs sped up so you feel the full arc in one sitting: clearing the ridge pad, hauling and sorting fieldstone, laying each course tight and level, notching the timber roof frame, and thatching before the mist swallows the ridge light.
