Lenovo X1 Carbon 4th Generation Fan Replacement
*** UPDATE: The fan that I bought has already started to loudly fail again as of mid May 2018, so if you can get the part for super cheap via Ebay or another vendor, I'd suggest it! No sense on spending big bucks if it's gonna fail in a few months. This video goes over the replacement of a fan on a Lenovo X1 Carbon 4th generation model, specifically type 20FB. The fan replacement part is 01AW976 - I bought it off Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-ThinkPa... I used Arctic MX-4 Thermal Paste and 70% isopropyl alcohol. You can definitely choose whatever thermal paste you prefer; I bought mine on Amazon. In terms of the alcohol, it's probably better to have used a concentration that's 90% or higher, but I didn't have it on hand and was itching to replace the fan. And of course, I should have been using an anti-static grounding cord around my wrist so I didn't fry any of the parts, but unfortunately I no longer live close to a Fry's Electronics.
