COMO CHICO XAVIER MORREU?
How did Chico Xavier die? Chico Xavier was one of the greatest mediums in Brazil and the world, recognized for his literary work and his charity. He wrote 468 books, using a process known as "psychography." Francisco de Paula Cândido, better known as Chico Xavier, was born on April 2, 1910, in the city of Pedro Leopoldo, a small town in the interior of the state of Minas Gerais. Chico was the youngest son in a poor family with eight siblings. His father, João Cândido Xavier, was a traveling salesman, while his mother, Maria João de Deus, was responsible for taking care of the house and family. The couple was known for their strong religiosity, following Catholicism. When Chico was only five years old, his mother died, leaving him an orphan. His father, who was a traveling salesman, could not afford to take care of all his children and decided to give them to relatives and friends. Chico Xavier was entrusted to his godmother, Rita de Cássia, who was a severe and violent woman. She mistreated the boy with beatings, insults, and deprivations. He suffered so much that he even considered taking his own life, but the few years he spent with his mother gave him the wisdom and strength to overcome the difficulties. It was during this time of suffering that his mediumship began to manifest, when at the age of five, Chico claimed to have spoken with his deceased mother. He recounted details about her appearance and personality, describing her so precisely that everyone around him realized that his account could not have come solely from his memory. This experience left a deep mark on his family. During the 1960s and early 1970s, Chico began making appearances on television programs, which helped establish Kardecist Spiritism as one of the main religions practiced in Brazil. At the height of his career, it was common for celebrities to visit his home in the city of Uberaba, Minas Gerais, for moral and spiritual advice, or simply to chat. For over 30 years he was seen as a kind of national "guru" whose advice people sought. He always emphasized that none of the abilities attributed to him were truly his own, but that he was merely a channel for the work of spirits; that he was not capable of performing any miracles, such as healing people, and could not contact someone who was dead unless that person was willing to be contacted. In addition to his vast literary work and his dedication to the Spiritist religion, Chico gained great national notoriety for his dedication to charity, helping the needy with food, clothing, medicine, and advice. He never charged for his mediumistic consultations, nor did he accept donations for himself. He lived modestly on his salary as a civil servant. Due to his charity, Chico was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1981 and 1989, but did not win due to his limited popularity in other parts of the world. Until his last days, Chico Xavier lived a life with few alterations, and it would remain so until his death. In his final years, the medium lived in a modest house in Uberaba, surrounded by the love and care of his family and close friends. The wheelchair he used to get around was a visual reminder of his physical limitations, a result of strokes that affected his mobility. Despite these limitations, his tranquil expression and serene gaze revealed a peaceful soul. Even with his failing health and advanced age, Chico continued to receive spiritual visits and practice his mediumship. He never stopped practicing charity; he continued to donate all the royalties from his works to charitable institutions and hospitals, following the principle of material detachment and love for his neighbor. In 2001, Chico Xavier was hospitalized at the Dr. Hélio Angotti Hospital in Uberaba to treat a severe case of pneumonia in both lungs. After his recovery, the medium lived for another year. Chico Xavier passed away on June 30, 2002, due to cardiorespiratory arrest; he was 92 years old. By a coincidence of fate, his death occurred on the same day that the Brazilian national football team became five-time world champions. Many believe that this date was not by chance, since Chico Xavier wished to leave this world on a day when everyone was happy. Chico Xavier's wake was held at the place where the spiritualist attended to his followers in the city of Uberaba. Approximately three thousand people passed through the wake per hour to say their last goodbyes. And that is how Chico Xavier died. If you liked it, leave your comment and subscribe to the channel!!
