Arrival in DESOLATION SOUND 2021 | EP 21 | Cruising/Boating Pacific Northwest | MV Makena Kai After a quick overnight anchorage at Smugglers Cove on-route to Desolation Sound, we anchor up by 6:00 AM and begin the route up the Malaspina Strait. Nice weather and good sea state make this an enjoyable passage. The kids make a utility stop at Harwood Island and look we back at an historical tragedy at Dinner Rock. By late morning we near Sarah Point (gateway to Desolation Sound) and continue on to Squirrel Cove, Cortes Island. Kids do some swimming and we grab some drone footage of the anchorage. About Us MV Makena Kai is a cruising style boating channel involving adventure, raising children and challenges that take place aboard a cruising type boat. We showcase geographical areas in the Pacific Northwest (Northern Puget Sound) and Southwest British Columbia (Vancouver Island/inside passage).
