Hey everybody, Ryan here at Etrailer. Today on our 2024 Honda CR-V, we're gonna be showing you how to install the CURT Trailer Hitch Receiver. Before we do that though, let's take a couple of minutes, check this out and make sure it's gonna be right for you. When it comes to putting a trailer hitch on a CR-V, it makes complete sense. You know, these SUVs are really versatile and people do a lot of different things with them. So you know, if you're looking to use accessories, or pull the trailer around, or a little bit of both, this hitch is definitely gonna get the job done. Now, compared to some of the others available, say the Etrailer one, for example, they're gonna look pretty much exactly the same, which I like the appearance of it. You know, it's gonna be completely hidden for the most part, just be able to see the opening here. But the CURT one that we have on today is more of a a gloss black finish. That's where the Etrailer one has more of a matte black. And I kinda like it a little bit more, I think it blends in better, but that is a opinion that's mine, and you can choose whichever one you think looks the best. Couple of big questions a lot of people wonder is, you know, this hitch gonna work with all the different types of submodels, 'cause there are quite a few. And the answer is yes. Like for example, today we have a sport touring hybrid. Hitch went up without any hiccups or anything like that, so regardless of the submodel you should be in pretty good shape. And a lot of people also wonder is if this is going to interfere with your hands free liftgate assist feature. And the answer is no, it will still work. You're just going to have to kick your foot to either side of the receiver tube opening and the hatch will open up like it should. This hitch is gonna have the two inch by two inch receiver tube opening, which is a good thing. That's an extremely common size, so a lot of stuff will work with it. It is going to use the standard 5/8 pin and clip. One doesn't come with the hitch, but if you need one, not a huge deal, you can always grab it here at Etrailer. A lot of times if you end up picking up a new accessory, it'll come with one. So just something to think about. The safety chain openings are relatively large, easy to get to, and you should be able to use just about any size hook that your trailer might have on it. We'll grab a couple measurements now, and these will help us figure out what type of accessories will work best. From the ground to the top and inside edge of the receiver tube opening, it's gonna be about 13 and 1/2 inches. So if you have an accessory with the straight shank, these should be in pretty good shape as far as clearance goes. If you have one with a rise in it, even better, gives you more ground clearance. If you're gonna be pulling a trailer, chances are pretty good you can get a ball mount hitch that has a rise in it, probably that two to four inch range work good for most people. As far as from the center of the hitch pin hole to the edge of our rear bumper, that's gonna be about 3 1/2 inches, which is really good. So shouldn't really come running into any issues here, but if need be, you can use that to help figure out exactly if those folding style accessories can be stored upright without hitting the back of your Honda. As far as the hit's weight capacities go, it's gonna have some pretty good numbers. Maximum gross tongue weight rating is gonna be 525 pounds. That's the amount of weight pushing down on the hitch. So that's good for just about any size bike rack or cargo carrier, to give an example. As far as the maximum gross trailer weight rating goes, that's gonna be 3,500 pounds, or the amount of weight pulling on the hitch. So it is a weight of the trailer plus anything you might have in or on it. Now I do always like to suggest, it's never a bad idea just to grab your Honda's owner's manual. That way you can check in there and make sure that your SUV can handle that much weight safely. Aside from all that, a good all-around hitch. You know, looks good, and it's gonna let you use all those different accessories or pull your trailers around or both, so it really can't go wrong. As far as the installation goes, it's really not too bad. Nothing super involved, so just take your time, you should be in pretty good shape. But with that said, why don't we go ahead and pull into the garage and get started
