Surgeon POV of Preparing a Tissue Expander | Brown Plastic Surgery
We're in the Operating Room (O.R.) again today and Dr. Brown is demonstrating how to prepare a tissue expander! Like this surgery, tissue expanders are commonly used after a patient has had a mastectomy, where the breast has been surgically removed due to Breast Cancer. Tissue Expanders are basically empty breast implants that will be filled with saline over time. This will help the skin surrounding the tissue expander to stretch and make room so the patient can eventually have breast implants in their place. He also includes the pro tip of adding methylene blue to the saline! Check out this video to see how to prepare a tissue expander, and why Dr. Brown adds methylene blue!
