Wheat Spike initiation or Jointing stage in wheat crop: Wheat plant initiate spike energence at the age of 60 days that is very visible at jointing stage of wheat crop. At this stage, wheat crop ends tillering stage and turn to harden stem. It is also called stem elongation stage. Node at stem is quite visible. Nitrogenous fertilizers use at this stage is not recommended as we know nitrogen is required by plants for vegetative growth. But when spike starts emergence, it means reproductive stage of wheat crop has been started by plants so nitrogen use at this stage is not beneficial.
