We’ve officially arrived in Croatia 🇭🇷, and this chapter of our 30 countries in 6 months journey surprised us in ways we truly didn’t expect. After traveling through Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, we slowed down for a bit and settled into coastal Croatia — and it turned out to be exactly what our family needed. From peaceful days at our waterfront Airbnb to jaw-dropping national parks, ancient cities, and unforgettable father-son moments, Croatia gave us rest, connection, and adventure all at once. We based ourselves near the coast and instantly fell in love with the lifestyle. Living in a residential area rather than a resort helped us feel like locals — waking up by the water, letting the kids spread out, staying active, and enjoying a slower pace before the next big stretch of our European road trip. These moments of stillness are just as meaningful as the big bucket-list experiences. One of the biggest highlights of our time in Croatia was visiting Krka National Park. We honestly had no idea what we were walking into. We expected a waterfall or two — but what we found were chains of waterfalls flowing down a mountainside, connected by safe, scenic walking paths that made it accessible for families of all ages. It was peaceful, stunning, and far exceeded anything we imagined. That day turned into one of those core memories you don’t plan for. Our son Tate spotted a place where he wanted to jump into the water — and after making sure it was safe, he did it. Watching his courage, cheering him on, and sharing that moment together is something neither of us will ever forget. These are the kinds of experiences that make this journey worth it. Between adventures, we focused on staying healthy on the road — inviting our kids into workouts, movement, and active days rather than leaving them behind. It’s been incredible watching them grow in confidence, leadership, and independence throughout this trip. We also spent time in Split, one of Croatia’s most historic and vibrant coastal cities. From wandering ancient Roman ruins right in the middle of town, to strolling palm-lined promenades, enjoying gelato in beautiful squares, relaxing by the water, and letting the kids lead the way — Split felt both ancient and alive. It’s one of those places where history and everyday life blend seamlessly. Later, we continued north to Zadar, where we experienced one of the most unique landmarks we’ve ever seen — the Sea Organ. Built into the waterfront, the waves themselves create music as they move through hidden chambers beneath the steps. Sitting there for over an hour, listening to the sound of the sea literally play music, felt surreal and calming in the best way. Zadar was the perfect final stop in Croatia — a city that blends modern life, deep history, and innovative design. From swimming, exploring old streets, tasting local specialties, and learning about the region’s famous maraschino liqueur, it felt like a beautiful full-circle ending to our Croatian adventure. Throughout our time here, one thing stood out above everything else: the people. Everywhere we went — restaurants, shops, city streets — we were met with kindness, warmth, and genuine hospitality. Croatia welcomed us in a way that left a lasting impression on our family. This trip isn’t just about travel. It’s about choosing presence over routine, memories over schedules, and courage over comfort.
