Performed by Kamerkoor JIP www.kamerkoorJIP.nl Subtitles available in Norwegian, Dutch and English Video | Felipe Pipi Sound | Tijmen de Vries Conductor | Imre Ploeg Ned i vester soli glader is a Norwegian folk song, based on a text by preacher and poet Anders Hovden (1860-1943, Norway). At nightfall, gratitude is expressed for small everyday things, such as food, clothing and work. The second stanza prays not only for protection during this night, but also for safe passage to the afterlife over a bridge of stars. Folk songs were handed down orally from generation to generation. Renowned Norwegian conductor Grete Pederson (*1960) made the arrangement of this song, trying to capture the traditional nuances and idioms as well as possible. The clear, powerful female voice takes centre stage in this folk song.
