유네스코와 함께하는 우리나라 지질여행 01 한반도의 바다: 동해안과 서해안의 차이

The Korean National Commission for UNESCO produced a video lecture titled "Geological Journey of Korea with UNESCO" to help people understand Korea's nature and, more broadly, Earth's history from an Earth science perspective. Professor Woo Kyung-sik of Kangwon National University (Chairman of the IUCN WCPA Geoheritage Specialist Group and former President of the International Union of Cave Specialists) participated as the lecturer. UNESCO supports collaborative research and capacity-building among earth scientists to conserve and sustainably utilize geological heritage sites that embody Earth's history. It also promotes the International Geoscience and Geoparks Program (IGGP), which certifies global geoparks. The Korean National Commission for UNESCO produced this lecture to align with UNESCO's values ​​and to enable a wider audience to understand the value of Korea's geological heritage. The lecture consists of four parts: △The Seas of the Korean Peninsula: Differences Between the East and West Coasts; △The Tidal Flats of Korea: Geodiversity and Biodiversity; △The History of the Earth Represented in the Fossils of the Korean Peninsula; and △Climate Change Recorded in Rocks. I hope that those who watch this lecture will broaden their understanding of the Earth we live on through its 4.6 billion-year history, the plants and animals that have adapted to live there, and the history and culture of humans. I also hope that they will think about the coexistence of humans and nature and sustainable development.
