Virar is a coastal town in the Vasai taluka and district of the Palghar state of India. Administered by the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation, it is integrated into the city of Vasai-Virar. It is located in the southern part of Palghar district in Vasai taluk and north of Mumbai city. It is an important part of Palghar district as Palghar is the northernmost part of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Virar railway station is one of the major railway stations on the western route of the Mumbai Suburban Railway, with Palghar (Dahanu) and Churchgate (South Mumbai) being stations with high frequency of local-train traffic at both ends. .
