Light Rock Fishing in Winter - Mount Batten - Garfish, Mackerel and The One That Got Away.....

Rather than being about 3 moinths late, this one is from just a few days ago! After a fruitless day chasing wrasse, I headed over to Mount Batten with Ben to see out the last couple of hours of sunshine. Despite what some might assume, mackerel and garfish are a pretty reliable winter target for us in Devon and we were pleased to bump into some of these after a slow day. The day ended for me when I lost what would have been a pretty special catch, despite being agonisingly close to landeing it! I may have milked this a bit with the edit, but I hope it captures some of the feelings we felt at the time!
