AMISH RV Absorption Fridge Replacement Cooling Units—AND TIPS—Make Your Fridge Run Colder

Our RV Absorption refrigerator died and was leaking ammonia. I’m going to replace the cooling unit with a Amish cooling unit. I’m also going to cover some important tips on how to make an absorption refrigerator operate better and keep your food cold. There are several DYI upgrades you can do to a RV absorption refrigerator to make it operate a whole lot better. Good air circulation by installing 12V fans is at the top of the list. Then blocking off the baffle/open areas that trap hot air is the other main thing to do to really help the fridge perform at it’s best. If you have an RV absorption refrigerator and you smell ammonia at the back of the fridge, it’s dead and that ammonia can start a fire. Turn the fridge off and don’t use it again. You have to replace the cooling unit or replace the whole fridge with a new one. A new fridge will cost around $800 - $1,000 more than just replacing the cooling unit.
