Bexhill Fishing 14th June 2026 New PB

Bexhill Beach Session – PB Smoothound & Rod Chaos! A memorable family session at Bexhill with my partner Fiona, daughter Shannon, and Shannon's boyfriend Jamie, who was trying sea fishing for the very first time. Conditions were calm following a period of south-westerly weather, with a smooth sea and plenty of anticipation as darkness approached. The session quickly turned into one to remember. Jamie got his very first fish right when my rod bent – an eel. Seeing someone catch their first fish is always good to see. As the session suddenly stretched on, the smoothounds moved in and produced some fantastic sport. The highlight of the trip was landing a new personal best smoothound weighing 11lb 13oz, beating my previous best and providing an incredible fight in the surf. Things became even more chaotic when, while dealing with the smoothound, another rod suddenly screamed off. With one fish already demanding attention, a second fish dragged the rod straight into the sea. A quick dash down the beach prevented disaster and saved the rod from taking an unwanted swim. Thanks to Jamie he quickly helps pick up the rod stand and stuff that was in the rod net, thanks Jamie. Other captures during the session included: Smoothound to a new PB of 11lb 13oz Smaller smoothounds 7.7lb Eels Thornback ray The combination of family, a new angler catching his first fish, a personal best smoothound, and a near-lost rod made this one of those sessions that will be talked about for a long time. Highlights: New PB Smoothound – 11lb 13oz Jamie's first-ever sea fish (eel) Family session with Fiona, Shannon and Jamie Rod nearly dragged into the sea while playing another fish Multiple species caught Calm summer conditions at Bexhill A session packed with action, laughs, and a few moments of panic – exactly what sea fishing memories are made of. #beachuk #smoothound #thornbackray #bexhill
