Not a single gala concert was complete without the Large Children's Choir of Central Television and All-Union Radio. Their ringing voices, sparkling eyes, and ironed collars seemed as if life had given these young singers a chance at a happy future even in childhood. "It's Fun to Walk Together," "Winged Swings," "Rise Up Like Bonfires," "When My Friends Are with Me." Not a single school assembly was complete without these and many other songs. These weren't just musical works, but genuine hits, performed at the annual "Song of the Year" ceremony. Accompanied by the Large Children's Choir were Soviet pop stars such as Lev Leshchenko, Sofia Rotaru, and Lyudmila Senchina. Each performance was a celebration for the audience. And few could guess what lay behind it. Thousands of girls and boys sang in the choir, but only a few made it to the solos. Of course, they got all the glory and honor, and for some, this fame ultimately didn't do them any good. For example, the most famous boy in the choir, Seryozha Paramonov, who sang solos in many famous songs and whose life went downhill when his voice lost its clear and melodic quality... Today, I'd like to remember the other boys in the choir. Those who, as adults, chose other professions.
