That letter, born of nostalgia and love, continued to grow for a year until it became more than 500 pages on the kitchen counter. Thus was born her first novel, The House of the Spirits, a work populated by characters inspired by her own family: a clairvoyant grandmother, unforgettable relatives, and the mysterious Rosa, whose image was ultimately transformed into literature.
