Vasco da Gama e as grandes navegações

Imagine leaving the land where you were born to venture into the unknown, walking through places where no one you know has been before. Imagine traveling along a path that was thought to be impossible to pass and that was said to be inhabited by terrifying creatures, such as giant snakes and even dragons. All of this while spending months seeing only the vast horizon, with no place to disembark. It may even seem like the exploration of space in science fiction, but I am talking about the Portuguese sailors who set out on “seas never before sailed” and discovered distant lands that Europeans did not know, people with different customs and trade routes that enriched entire countries. But they also brought violence and death to the places they passed through. And no one represents these fearless adventurers more than Vasco da Gama, who is not just the name of a football team. He went further than all those who opened paths across the oceans and found the long-awaited route to the Indies. It is no wonder that his voyage was immortalized in the greatest classic of the Portuguese language.
