The word "humility" speaks of submission, gentleness, softness, calmness, and self-denial. So, what does the life of someone who is truly humble look like? It is peaceful; they don't seek to impose their will on others. They are affable and tranquil. But don't be mistaken: humility is not being "lazy" or weak-willed; it's not being the family's punching bag. Humility is "power under control." It is the ability to express one's point of view with moderation and equanimity. It is self-control even in the face of insults, offenses, and slander, knowing that God defends His own. What is a person who is not humble like? They are arrogant and proud. They are known for judging and speaking ill of others. They do not accept constructive criticism. They justify all their actions and are convinced that everyone is wrong, except them. They think they are wiser than others and mercilessly attack those who oppose or fail them. In light of these descriptions, it is clear that humility is not manufactured by human effort. It is cultivated only by those who have now entered, through faith, into the kingdom of heaven. That is the progression shown to us in the Beatitudes. God be with you! #Matthew5:5 (NBLA) #MannaDevotionals
