UPN Veteran East Java Welcomes 6,662 New Students, Inaugurates 2025 New Student Orientation Program at Wimaya Twin Towers The National Development University "Veteran" East Java (UPNVJT) officially opened the Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) for the 2025/2026 Academic Year. The opening ceremony took place in the courtyard of Wimaya Twin Towers, Gunung Anyar Campus, Surabaya, on Saturday (August 16th), led by UPNVJT Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Akhmad Fauzi, MMT, IPU. This year, UPNVJT welcomed 6,662 new students from a total of 51,631 applicants, with a competitive selection ratio of 1:8. The student body consists of 39.62% males and 60.38% females, hailing from 34 provinces across Indonesia, as well as 39 international students from various countries, including Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Ghana, Yemen, Madagascar, Tajikistan, Timor-Leste, Thailand, Gambia, Kenya, Rwanda, Eswatini, Nigeria, and the Solomon Islands. The Rector stated that the PKKMB (National Student Admissions Program) is not merely an orientation program, but a crucial opportunity to shape students' character as individuals with a spirit of national defense. "PKKMB is the first step for students to become acquainted with the academic, social, and cultural life of the campus. We want to produce a superior generation with character, ready to become pioneers of future development," Prof. Fauzi emphasized in his remarks. Furthermore, this year, UPNVJT also admitted 2,430 outstanding students who have achieved success at the regional, national, and international levels. They include gold medalists in science olympiads, international karate and wushu champions, and technology innovators. In addition, there are 33 students from Papua who were accepted through the ADIK and Proaktif Papua scholarship programs, as a manifestation of the campus' commitment to increasing the Gross Participation Rate (APK) in higher education.
