EPIC 1970 OTIS Basement Traction Freight Elevator Machine Room!
This is one of my favorite machine rooms I've ever seen, solely because of the really unique setup! This is a passenger (right car) and freight (left car) sharing the same hoistway and motor room. These are basement traction elevators and you're basically standing in the pit. You can see underneath both cars and get a really cool view up. The passenger elevator has a DC generator as well as a tiny little 3-stop pie plate selector. It's the smallest of its kind that I've seen. It's running on a 10 UCLS controller and has a 3000 lbs. capacity. The freight has a big boi machine, and it doesn't have a generator or a selector. It has a 21 NICLS controller and a 5000 lbs. capacity. This room gets pretty loud when these are both running, but it's music to my ears.
