But one Almaty resident solved this issue in an unusual way: he built a private home on the roof of the nine-story building. The story of this building made headlines on social media last year. And now the building is looking for a new owner. The roof was converted into residential space almost 20 years ago. Since then, the building has changed hands several times, but has primarily been rented out. According to a realtor, the building was constructed during the state program "City Attics." At that time, residents of the upper floors were allowed to build homes on their roofs. VLADISLAV SARZHAN, real estate expert: "This building had to pass all the tests, meaning seismic resistance. The entire architecture had to be inspected, and it had central water supply, central heating, and everything runs from the building. Therefore, this building is completely legal." The building's owner declined an interview, but admitted off-camera that living above all her neighbors is a pleasure. She says she's not afraid of cold winter winds or earthquakes.
