Walking around Benidorm, Meliá Villaitana March 2025

Passing by Meliá Villaitana while walking to La Nucia in a sunny day. Meliá Villaitana is a luxury resort located in Benidorm, Alicante, Spain, just a short drive from the Mediterranean coast and about 20 minutes from Alicante Airport. Opened in 2006, the resort was designed to resemble a traditional Mediterranean village, offering a unique atmosphere that combines luxury with historical charm. Resort Design and Buildings The complex consists of 25 individual buildings, each constructed to reflect classic Mediterranean and Spanish architectural styles. Although the buildings are relatively new, they are intentionally designed with historic inspiration, including: A replica of the famous church in Altea, featuring a blue-tiled dome and bell tower. A picturesque central square, Plaza Real, echoing the charm of old Spanish towns. Narrow streets, balconies, arches, and terracotta roofs, all contributing to the village-like feel. This thoughtful architecture creates the illusion of walking through a traditional Spanish town, offering guests not just luxury, but also a sense of place and cultural immersion.
