CARRIÈRES ABANDONNÉES: L’HÉRITAGE SOUTERRAIN
A video dive into the Lutetian quarries! A project that's been on my mind for several months, in these unusual times when only natural and wild places are open to visitors, and when the weather is so gloomy that we happily take refuge underground. No doubt this opens the door to other reports of this type in the future... To contact me: [email protected] Sources: "Underground Explorations in the Lutetian Quarries", by J-P. Batteux. An absolute reference. A bible of visuals and information. Not to find the galleries (such a work does not exist to my knowledge), but rather to understand their origins, their history, and the diversity of what we find there today. http://www.saga-geol.asso.fr/Geologie... https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lut%C3%... https://geologie.mnhn.fr/collectionlu... / souterrainsdelamarne • Visitez les Catacombes de Paris | Que fair... We certainly share a passion for this kind of discovery... But accepting the challenge, in this rain, in all this mud, with a fog that blocked our view of even the slightest panorama... Without always finding what we were looking for... For that, you have to be a friend. Thanks also to Bastian for his map of the Palace of Versailles, sent directly! ^^ Equipment Used: Panasonic GH4-R Gopro Hero 7 Black Huawei P30 pro Parrot Anafi (archive drone footage, taken in the Aisne region in February and March 2019) Rode Videomic & Bird UM-1 microphones (voiceover) The real star of the video is also the Valootre portable LED panel: a better investment than panels that require constant power. Slightly bulky but perfect, with a decent battery, and tripod compatibility. Did you know? (Normally not) This video was shot over two days (one without Valootre). A poorly connected microphone resulted in one less sequence. I forced myself to explore the abandoned mushroom farm alone... And I came back without sound. No sound, either, for the small fountains and waterfalls. What you heard was entirely fake. Thanks, Epidemic Sound. This is the second time I've missed visiting the Dragon's Cave. The first time, it was under construction; this time, it's because of a global pandemic. But one day I'll go. It was on my way back from this shoot that I decided to tweet that the "cave" symbol on IGN maps actually meant "no cave." QED. For this shoot, I promised myself I'd never violate any Private Property signs. And there were... None. Zero. Never anywhere. It's a change from my home. On the other hand, there were no more quarries and no more cave entrances... There were plenty of them! I'm proud to have included "formerly" in my script. It's the first time. I forgot to shoot the intro sequence: we shot it while walking in the rain in the last moments of a tiring day. After yet another failure, and having to climb up an entire ravine. What an idea! Sarcasm and soaked clothes were part of the story. Shortly after this sequence, one of us slipped in the mud. But he's doing better. Thank you for your attention... See you soon for the next one! Fingers crossed that the bike will be there!
