栄村の桐下駄
栄村一帯は、豪雪地帯特有の軽くて固い良質な桐材の産地として知られています。深雪の中で育った桐は美しい木目を持ち下駄材として大変優れていることから栄村では100年にわたって桐下駄の生産が行われてきました。桐材の優しい肌触りと 手作りならではの履きやすさから今も多くの人々に愛され、昭和58年に長野県の伝統的工芸品に指定されました。
