Cost of Living in Casco Viejo Panama | Health & Lifestyle Focused

Every expat whatsapp group I´ve read is packed with people asking… Can I live in Panama with (place budget here) a month? The range of answers to that question is wide to say the least. The answer is mostly yes, but with so many caveats! Different places in Panama will have different lifestyles and cost structures. So, how can anyone get a real picture? To add to the confusion… There are quite a number of videos selling Panama as a cheap paradise. If you are here, I hope you know to take those with a grain of salt. So… Let´s skip the drama and add some real life info! In this series (and below) I´m providing a realistic cost of living budget for a single person or a couple for Panama City with a focus on living an active, healthy lifestyle in 2026. I´ve added my own expenses, researched different groceries stores, asked friends and included everything I thought relevant for anyone expecting to truly live here. And frankly, not only live, but have a bit of fun too. Otherwise, what´s the point! =) Depending on where you are coming from, you can feel this is incredibly convenient or not. But it will give you a realistic view of what to expect. Please note I have included annual expenses and broken it down in a per month, because frankly you need to save for those too. To put a low per month number, and then to have a lump sum at the end of the year …. Who are we kidding, right?
