The name of HS cigarette entrepreneur Muhammad Suryo has resurfaced in the alleged corruption case involving projects at the Ministry of Transportation's Directorate General of Railways (DJKA). Suryo is said to be one of the parties who received illicit funds from the infrastructure project. This new fact was revealed during the follow-up witness examination at the Semarang Corruption Court on Monday (July 13, 2026). The trial named Sudewo, a former member of the Indonesian House of Representatives and the inactive Regent of Pati, as a defendant. Before the panel of judges, Bernard Hasibuan, the former Commitment Making Officer at the Semarang Railway Engineering Center, provided shocking testimony. Bernard clearly revealed that Muhammad Suryo received billions of rupiah, referred to as sleeping fees or passive commissions. The funds were known to have originated from the Solo Balapan–Kadipiro–Kalioso Double Track construction project, Package 6. He stated that Suryo was given IDR 9.5 billion. Upon hearing this confession, KPK Public Prosecutor Greafik Loserte immediately questioned the witness. The prosecutor sought confirmation from Bernard regarding the reasons behind the large sum of money, as well as the actual connection between the JGSS 6 project and the "security affairs" allegedly involving Suryo. The mention of Muhammad Suryo's name in this case is actually nothing new. This is not the first time Muhammad Suryo's name has surfaced in the DJKA corruption trial.
