The sermon explores the moment when Jesus reveals His divine glory to Peter, James, and John on the mountaintop. The pastor draws two main lessons from the text: 1️⃣ Glory is revealed in private Jesus could have revealed His glory to anyone, anywhere—but He chose to call the disciples aside. Amidst so much noise, miracles, and information, we often become "sleepy" like the disciples and fail to perceive God's glory. Jesus invites us daily to ascend the mountain with Him in secret, in a place of prayer and intimacy. 2️⃣ Glory without understanding breeds fear The disciples saw the glory, but did not understand it—and so they fell face down, overcome with great fear. Without prayer and intimacy with the Father, we are not prepared to see the glory of Jesus revealed. But when discernment comes, glory with understanding dispels fear. Years later, John wrote, "We saw His glory" (John 1:14), and Peter declared, "We were eyewitnesses" (2 Peter 1:16)—now they understood. *Conclusion*: Jesus approaches, touches, and says, "Get up and do not be afraid" (Matthew 17:7). The same glory that filled that mountain remains forever, and we can walk confidently, without fear, knowing that He is in control.
