Nuevo Hospital del Niño: una obra de esperanza y transformación para la salud pediátrica en Panamá
During our visit to the new and modern Children's Hospital, we spoke with architect Saray Pimentel, National Deputy Director of the Health Infrastructure Directorate, who detailed the progress of one of the most important projects for pediatric care in Panama. The project, developed by Acciona Construcción, S.A., represents an investment of approximately $446 million and will have a capacity of 476 beds, as well as 14 operating rooms, 108 consultation rooms, and specialized areas such as emergency services, radiology, hematology, laboratories, outpatient clinics, imaging, burn unit for children, and a hematology-oncology ward for the treatment of children with cancer. Currently, around 800 workers are working daily to meet the established schedule. According to authorities, the project is progressing well and is estimated to be completed by mid-2026, marking a turning point in pediatric healthcare in the country.
