Sinjar : Là Où Daech a Tenté d’Effacer un Peuple
In 2014, Iraq and Syria descended into horror with the meteoric rise of the Islamic State. From the fall of Mosul to the battle of Kobani, including the destruction of Palmyra and the forced exile of Iraqi Christians, the Middle East was marked by extreme violence. At the heart of this tragedy, one people remained largely unknown for a long time: the Yazidis. In August 2014, ISIS launched a campaign of extermination against this religious minority, whose ancient and syncretic monotheism had often led to persecution and false accusations. More than 200,000 Yazidis fled to the borders of Iraq, Syria, and Turkey. Thousands of men were executed and buried in mass graves, children were forcibly recruited as fighters, and women and girls were enslaved for sexual purposes. This documentary revisits the Yazidi genocide, the war crimes committed by the Islamic State, and the humanitarian and geopolitical consequences of this tragedy in the Middle East. This documentary was produced by Armenoid Productions and directed by Bared Maronian. It was first broadcast in 2024. --- Red Zone plunges you into the world of crime and investigation, taking you to the most volatile locations in the world.
