On our day 1 in pune, we decided to explore the heritage part of the Pune city, explored shaniwar wada to learn about the history of Peshwas’s , also visited the house where Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj used to live during his childhood and many more things. Date of Journey - 24th Feb 2025 Following are the things we did during the day in Pune Hotel Shreyas - We stayed at this hotel located in apte road, deccan gymkhana. Tariff - Rs 3300 plus tax for double occupancy. Mandai Market Intro - We started our day by visiting the vegetable market, also known as Mahatma Phule market. It is a 140 year old market. Britishers built this building for the British Governor of Mumbai. Vaidya Uphaar Griha - 110 year Old misal shop of pune located in Budhwar peth, we had Misal with bread. There are about 17 peth in pune city Shaniwar Wada - This used to be palace of Peshwa Bajirao 1, constructed started on 10th Jan 1730 & 22nd Jan 1732 completion on both the days it was saturday, that’s why it is known as Shaniwar wada. One can understand the entire history of the Maratha Empire with the guide. Hence a guided tour is a must, otherwise there is not much to see, what you see are the ruins. Idli which has stuffing of potato masala fried with besan. This is about 400 meters from shaniwar wada Shri Kasba Ganpati Temple - This is an ancient temple of Lord Ganpati, rock like structure inside the sanctum. Believed to be swayambhu, built by Rajmata Jijau Sahib, mother of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in 1640. In pune there are 5 temples of Lord Ganpati, Shri Kasba Ganpati temple is number 1. Shri kasba Ganpati is located at Walking distance from Shaniwar wada Lal Mahal - There you get to know a lot about the childhood days of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Durvankur - We had lunch here, veg thali - Rs 450 unlimited. Tulsibaug Market - it is located in budhwar peth, around 250 year old market, mostly it is women centric. Shri Ram mandir tulsibaug - It is located in the centre of the market. Since 1762 Chitale Bandhu - There are about 48 outlets in pune of Chitale bandhu, Bhakarwadi & Amba Burfi.
