Diplomatic and private sector representatives analyzed the situation ahead of the imminent cancellation of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) in the United States, deeming any further extension legally impossible due to the legal landscape and the immigration policies of President Donald Trump's administration. Faced with the risk of a dramatic return for more than 55,000 Hondurans, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' consular network—comprising 19 offices—is coordinating qualified legal assistance and free registration of children born abroad to facilitate their documentation. Additionally, the General Directorate of Customs confirmed the continued validity of the Special Law for Facilitating Return and Protecting Assets, which allows the duty-free entry of household goods, vehicles, and work tools. For their part, the Cortés Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCIC) and the Honduran Embassy in Washington emphasized the urgent need to attract foreign investment by strengthening legal security, returning to the Integrated System for Interbank Economic Integration (SIADI), and implementing urgent reforms to the electricity sector.
