The Mijikenda of Kwale County in Kenya #1 Kaya MTSWAKARA Walk

Walking into the sacred forest of Kaya Mtswakara. The Research Team is introduced to the rituals that have to be observed as one enters the sacred forest, including the cleansing of the persons entering as well as greeting the ancestors as one enters the sacred forest. The Kaya Elder then conducts a prayer to welcome the Team to the holy grounds. When the rains lock the team in the forest and it was getting late, the Kaya Elder offers prayer to stop the rains for the Research Team to leave, and the rain stops.
