'Aputt' Mandd Sobhann - 200th Monthly Theatre at Kalaangann

I invite this team to Goa, to perform for our Goan youth. I am aware of the immense sacrifices that Mandd Sobhann has put-in, to maintain the continuity of the Monthly Theatre effort. I congratulate Mandd Sobhann for their unparalleled contribution to Konkani performing arts.” So Lauded Shri Michael Lobo, the deputy speaker of the Goan Assembly. He was speaking as the Chief Guest at the 200 th Monthly Theatre Programme presented by Mandd Sobhann, at Kalaangann, on Aug. 5, 2018. He unveiled a portrait drawn by artist Wilson Kayyar, of the departed Lawrence Pinto, Mandd Sobhann’s permanent committee member. He also released a book titled ‘Shekddyam Voyr Shekddo’ (100 over 100), a compilation of all the Monthly Theatre Programmes presented, in the past 16 years and 8 months. Friends of Lawry, the sponsors of the programme, as well as the artistes were honoured on the occasion. Bab Joy Fernandes, our committee member from Goa, introduced the Chief Guest. Louis Pinto, President, Eric Ozario, Gurkar, Our Pirjent Roy Castelino, Loy Noronha on behalf of Friends of Lawry and Lawry’s wife Leena – were on stage. The houseful gathering savored the classic taste of the unique Mandd Sobhann Music. 16 songs sung by – Eric Ozario, Joyce Ozario, Prakash D’souza, Zeena Pereira, Prajoth D’sa, Shilpa Cutinha, Robin Sequeira, Adolf Jayatilak, Jacqueline Fernandes, Alwyn Fernandes, Cajetan Dias, Butto, Nihal Tauro, Jaison Lobo, Sonal Monteiro, Dealle D’souza, Aman and Gia. The songs, written by Mandd Sobhann’s popular poets, were as follows – Mandd Sobhann (Chafra), Suddsudde Renvcher (Chafra), Amor Pikya (Yusuf Sheik), Az Hanv Vetam (Lloyd Rego), Ddaranv Ddaranv (Chafra), Anju (Fred Kumar),Ujya Vengent (Fred Kumar), Hanv Vetam (Melvyn Rodrigues), Fatoddechya Kombyan (Shridhar Kamath), Sury Gela Po’lto’ddi (Uday Mbrebre), Birnddam (Chafra), Rat Dees (Fred Kumar), Chinta So’dam (Melvyn Rodrigues), Mhaka Ko’llana (Melvyn Rodrigues), Mho’zo Mogall Ganv (Jossy Pinto). The tunes of all the songs were composed by Eric Ozario. The Specially handpicked, accomplished musicians rendered extraordinary beauty to the music. On the flute – Annada Prasanna Pattnaik (Butto), on the violin – Manoj George, Cajetan Dais – on the Keyboard, Alwyn Fernandes – on the Leard Guitar, Deepakraj Ullal – Tabla, Jerome Coelho – Bazz Guitar, Sachin Sequeira – Percussions, Ishan Fernandes – Rhythm Guitar. Titus Noronha acted as the ‘Sootrdhar’ and Arun Raj Rodrigues compered the formal stage programme.
