Die Multimodale Schmerztherapie

Dr. Regina Wolf, head of the Karlsruhe Pain Therapy Center, Dorothea Schilling-Rinck, psychologist, and Nadine Klos, physiotherapist, visited Baden-TV. The three spoke with Günter Knappe about their work and their experiences treating patients with chronic pain. For people with chronic, meaning long-lasting, pain that cannot be treated causally, the Karlsruhe Clinic offers "inpatient multimodal pain therapy" under the umbrella of the Karlsruhe Pain Therapy Center. This modern and proven treatment method for chronic pain is based on a biopsychosocial understanding of illness. Pain is treated with a variety of approaches, such as medical therapy, including interventional therapies, psychotherapy, and learning relaxation techniques; physiotherapy and movement therapy; and music therapy. The interdisciplinary treatment team includes specially trained physicians, psychologists, physiotherapists, and nurses. A joint team meeting takes place regularly, during which an integrative assessment of the therapy progress of the individual patients and a coordination of the individual therapists and therapy methods are carried out.
