When she finally saw an ENT specialist and had a laryngoscopy, the news was devastating: one of her vocal cords was PARALYZED. And when we investigated the reason, we found a large nodule in her thyroid that had invaded the vocal nerve. It was cancer. Most people don't know this, but hoarseness that doesn't go away in more than 2 weeks is an important warning sign.
