¿A cuántos trabajadores has despedido? La pregunta de Afra Blanco

Afra Blanco's question to a restaurant owner: "How many workers have you laid off?" On laSexta Xplica, the debate about wages once again took center stage. A businessman explained the cost of maintaining a workforce, while union leader Afra Blanco responded forcefully about labor rights. In this laSexta Xplica video, David Ariza, owner of a restaurant in Alicante, defended his business model, asserting that his restaurant maintains "stable revenue throughout the year" and has a "stable" workforce. However, he focused his intervention on the salary costs he claims are necessary to maintain his workers. Ariza explained that when he opened his business a decade ago, the salary cost per employee was €1,780, and they were paid €1,320. Currently, he claims, that cost amounts to €2,160, while the employees are paid €1,400. He also explained that raising their salaries by €80 would mean an increase of €400 in costs for him due to social security contributions and other associated expenses, of which the employee only receives €80. Therefore, he stated that as a business owner, he needs to raise the price of his services to be able to afford this pay increase. His intervention generated a critical response from Afra Blanco, a union member and regular contributor on the program, who questioned the restaurateur's business logic: "The employee's salary cost comes from their own work and from surplus value," she reproached him.
