TRIBUN-VIDEO.COM - Former Chief of the Indonesian National Police's Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri), Susno Duadji, believes the Corruption Eradication Commission (Kortas Tipikor)'s move to investigate alleged money laundering (TPPU) through searches at 12 locations is the right strategy to uncover the predicate crime behind the flow of funds. According to Susno, investigators are currently beginning to establish evidence for the alleged money laundering before investigating the underlying crime. "The Indonesian National Police are like eating porridge, starting from the periphery. From the money laundering crime, they say, 'Oh, who laundered the money, the money came from this, this is the underlying crime, and then the main perpetrator will be caught and exposed,'" said Susno. He hopes the investigation will proceed strictly according to the law without interference from any party. "We hope this is not interfered with by political power, not interfered with by other powers, and don't let thugs interfere. This is purely legal," he emphasized. Susno also believes investigators should not rush to reveal the identities of the parties suspected of involvement before all the evidence is completely complete. "The National Police certainly won't say who was involved: A, B, or C. If the National Police were to say so, it could be considered criminalization, slander, or even sectoral egotism. Let the evidence speak for itself," he said. According to Susno, proof through evidence, witness statements, and transaction records will be the basis for determining who should be held accountable in the case.
