I analyzed 42,698 trades to answer one question: does it matter which side of the market's stage you trade? Most traders pick a direction first, then hunt for a setup to justify it. The data says that is backwards. The market is already in one of four stages, and that stage is quietly telling you which side to take. Across 42,698 backtested setups, 299 symbols, and 20 months, trades aligned with the market stage won 60.1% of the time and averaged +2.34R. Trades fighting the stage won just 46.3% and lost money on average. Same setups. The only thing that changed was the side.
