Janet Hammond, MD, PhD, the chief development officer at Atea Pharmaceuticals, in Boston, sat down with Infectious Disease Special Edition to talk about their new drug in development, a combination of bemnifosbuvir and ruzasvir. Recent research presented at EASL 2026 (poster FRI-635) shows the direct acting antiviral regimen can even be taken with proton pump inhibitors, which sofosbuvir/velpatasvir (Epclusa, Gilead) has a warning against coadministering.
